Vegan Burger @thefederalbar

4 Apr

As you can tell by my older posts I am a meat lover, but the Lebanese in me came out and I had to try the vegan falafel burger. It was good with a kick of spiciness. The fries were also very good.

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

3 Feb

Mission: Completed! All rejoice, for this Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe was an unbelievable success. I even daresay that my absolute favorite Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe has finally met its match! I had never used brown butter in a recipe before, but I knew that its rich caramel, nutty flavor was just what my cookie palette craved. Browning butter can be tricky, but I was amazingly overjoyed when this recipe turned out so beautifully, not to mention fulfilling my cookie “type” of having a soft, chewy, and buttery texture.

Let’s Cook Through The Ancestral Table.

3 Feb

The Domestic Man

I think it’d be really fun if you cooked through The Ancestral Table, and I’d love to follow you on your journey. I wrote this book with that very idea in mind, and for two specific kinds of people. First, for anyone that is looking to try out a more healthful way of eating, this might be the tastiest way to go about it. Secondly, for anyone that’s been eating a Paleo-style diet for a while and is looking to either 1) try out some new dishes or 2) ramp up their skills in the kitchen, I think this is also a great solution.

I’m not saying that you have to exclusively cook every meal straight out of this book (after all, there are only a couple breakfast recipes in here), but I have a feeling that most people (and their tastebuds!) will benefit from cooking frequently out of…

Giant Cinnamon Roll

Cookie's Crumbles

I found this recipe on Pinterest this week and thought today would be the perfect day to give it a try.  You can find the original post here.  I did not change anything, other than using just a plain powdered sugar/milk frosting.  This was much easier to make than I expected and the dough actually rose, sometimes I have a problem with that.  And yes, I did eat this for dinner tonight, don’t judge.  Enjoy!

Giant Cinnamon Roll:

2 1/4 cup flour

3 T. sugar

1 t. salt

1 package instant yeast

In a large bowl, mix evenly.  Set aside.

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup milk

3 T. butter

1 egg

Melt water, milk and butter over medium heat until melted and it reaches a temperature of 115 degrees.  Pour this liquid mixture into the flour mix and stir.  Add 1 egg.  Stir to make a soft dough.  Dough…

Animal part III – Best for Last

3 Feb

Before foie gras was banned on the menu, I made sure to go back and have this dish. I must have had it about 3 times if not more. It was one of the best things on the menu. I’d like to be hopeful that one day it will return (legally of course).
